GRILLO zinc foil for the permanent protection of wooden poles
Zinc is a sustainable and environmentally friendly material that is therefore used as a protective element in many areas.
The Fürstenberg Permadur Z-bandage developed by our partner Fürstenberg-THP GmbH for the comprehensive protection of wooden poles consists of an internal, highly formable, high-purity GRILLO zinc foil and an external sealing PE foil. The ground/air area in particular, but also other areas of wooden poles, are exposed to a parti-cular risk of rotting.
The Fürstenberg-Permadur Z-bandage is applied using a wrapping technique, which extends the service life of poles in the field and stabilizes the protection system. . As a rule, approx. 2/3 of the width is initially installed in the ground area and approx. 1/3 of the bandage remains visible above ground level. Finally, the bandage can be additionally covered with adhesive tape to provide additional protec-tion against browsing by grazing livestock. The functional principle of the bandage is based on the insulation of the soil/air area and the cre-ation of a low-oxygen environment, which provides permanent protection against wood-decomposing soil organisms.
