As the only manufacturer of dimethyl sulphate (DMS) in Europe, we produce it at our facility in the Höchst industrial park at the Frankfurt site. We ensure a safe and reliable supply chain through our comprehensive safety and quality standards. In addition, we offer an enviromentally friendly alternative to conventional production by using biomethanol as a raw material to produce green DME.

Sustainability

Low CO₂ emissions & green DMS

Dimethyl sulphate production has been subjected to cradle-to-gate certification in accordance with ISO 14067. The specific CO₂ emissions have been determined and can be provided to our customers with audited approved certificates. Thanks to modern production processes, the values are at a very low level.

In addition, we offer our customers methanol from sustainable sources (biomethanol) as main raw material and thus produce “green DMS”.

Our DMS can be made from green DME (biomethanol) on request, making it CO₂ neutral and therefore an environmentally friendly alternative to conventional products.

Dimethyl sulphate is used in the household sector for the production of fabric softeners.

Cosmetics & Healthcare

GRILLO dimethyl sulphate is used in the cosmetics and healthcare industry as a methylating agent in the synthesis of active ingredients, e.g. in the production of antioxidants or painkillers.

Agriculture & feed industry

Dimethyl sulphate is used in the agricultural and feed industry as a methylating agent in the production of plant protection products and fertilisers.

Chemical industry

Our dimethyl sulphate is an important component in many chemical syntheses, e.g. in the production of plastics, pharmaceuticals or plasticisers.

Paint & varnish industry

In the paint and varnish industry, dimethyl sulphate is used as a reagent for the production of polymers and resins.

Our product range

We offer dimethyl sulphate exclusively in the safety containers approved for this purpose as follows:

• Small safety containers up to 3,000 kg
• ISO tank containers up to 27,000 kg
• Rail tank cars up to 68,000 kg

What is dimethyl sulphate?

Dimethyl sulphate is a colourless to slightly yellowish liquid. Due to its special properties, particular precautions apply to its production, transport and handling. The product must not be released and must always be kept in closed systems.

Dimethyl sulphate is an excellent methylating agent and is indispensable in many chemical applications, for example in the production of fabric softeners, agrochemicals, cosmetics as well as dyes and pharmaceuticals. Dimethyl sulphate is also an indispensable component in many other chemical syntheses.
