GRILLO-Werke AG has divested Metra Non-Ferrous Metals to Hypax

GRILLO-Werke AG has decided to divest Metra Non-Ferrous Metals Ltd. to financial investor Hypax GmbH. Closing took place at the end of April.

 

Metra was founded in 1974 from the remnants of the last zinc rolling mill still operating in the United Kingdom, taking on the task of supplying a small market of traditional roofers and metal fabricators with non-ferrous metals. Over time, Metra came into the ownership of GRILLO-Werke AG, gaining access to a broad product portfolio – including specialist zinc alloys, wire, sheet and coil – and was thus able to further strengthen its successful market position.

This divestiture is a further step in GRILLO’s strategic transformation: we are focusing our resources and energy on our core industrial businesses – zinc and sulphur chemistry. In Hypax, we have found a new owner for Metra who will develop the company as a standalone platform and unlock its full growth potential.

As a family-owned business, we do not take decisions of this nature lightly. With this transaction, we are consistently pursuing our stated strategy – a transformation that also requires difficult decisions.
