ImproBed is the innovative and sustainable litter solution for ammonia reduction that has been specially developed for today’s requirements in poultry farming. As a recognized indoor measure, ImproBed helps to reliably comply with the requirements of TA Luft, the German Technical Instructions on Air Quality Control, for emission reduction. This progressive approach solves the problem at the root and is shown to improve the air quality in the barn. ImproBed thus protects the environment and contributes to the well-being of humans and animals.
A combination with great effect
ImproBed consists of a combination of straw and a pH-reducing additive, which together provide an effective solution for modern animal husbandry requirements. The pellets produced ensure good bedding hygiene and thus have a positive effect on animal health.
Targeted pH reduction to reduce emissions
The targeted reduction of the pH value of the bedding material inhibits microbial activity and significantly reduces the formation of ammonia. This has a positive effect on the health of the animals’ footpads. In addition, ammonia is bound by chemical conversion to ammonium sulphate in the litter. The efficacy of ImproBed has been proven by intensive research and measurements and confirmed in the DLG (German Agricultural Society) test report 7449 and studies by LUFA Nord-West, the accredited service laboratory of the Lower Saxony Chamber of Agriculture.

DLG recognition for effective reduction of ammonia emissions
The ImproBed litter has successfully proven its effectiveness in reducing ammonia emissions in broiler fattening systems in the DLG test. Tested in accordance with the DLG test framework “Indoor methods for reducing emissions”, the tests were carried out at two independent test sites in practical farms.
LUFA measurement report on the scientific investigation to derive an emission factor
GRILLO ImproBed has successfully proven its effectiveness in reducing ammonia emissions in broiler fattening systems in a test by LUFA Nord-West. Tested on four different farms in three different seasons, the result was a reduction rate of 76.7 % compared to the requirements of TA Luft.
