update on fire in september

There is an update on developments following the fire at our zinc sulphate plant.

As a direct consequence of the fire in the zinc sulphate plant at the GRILLO plant in Duisburg, the old plants of the three product lines zinc sulphate, waste acid and sulphur dioxide can no longer be operated.

However, after intensive efforts, we succeeded in starting a successive partial commissioning of a new incinerator and a modernised sulphur dioxide plant on 31.01.2025. Fortunately, these new plants were not affected by the major fire on 11 September 2024. We are currently in a test phase in which the new plants are only being operated at partial load. As the operation of the new plants is not yet stable due to unexpected technical failures/malfunctions, we are a long way from restoring the supply situation for our customers to the level it was at before the major fire.

We will inform our customers immediately when normal operation of the new plants and full delivery capability of our chemical products is possible.
