The role model among the efficiency networks
Successful model “ChePap Rhein-Ruhr” starts for the next round
We participate in the ChePap Rhein Ruhr III energy efficiency and climate protection network and thus make another major contribution to climate protection. As a committed member of this network, we are actively engaged in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and improving energy efficiency to reduce our ecological footprint and make our contribution to achieving climate protection goals.
For five years now, the ChePap Rhine-Ruhr energy efficiency network of NRW chemical and paper industries has been successful in two rounds. Now 13 companies are starting a third round.
For five years now, the ChePap Rhine-Ruhr energy efficiency network of NRW chemical and paper industries has been successful in two rounds. Now 13 companies are starting a third round. The network operates under the umbrella of an initiative of the Federal Government and various business associations, including VCI (www.effizienznetzwerke.org). It was reorganised early in 2021 and now includes as “Initiative for Energy Efficiency and Climate Protection Networks” a broader set of topics related to climate protection, energy transition and sustainability, in addition to the focus on energy saving measures. By the end of 2025, up to 350 networks are to save up to six million tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions.
The approach is as ingenious as it is simple: The initiative offers companies a platform for
structured exchange of expertise and thus enables them to learn from each other. At the same time,
the concept includes support for the network by professional energy consultants who lead the meetings and try to identify measures to increase energy efficiency in discussions with the companies.
In this way, ChePap Rhein-Ruhr was able to save 113 million kilowatt hours per year in only 24 months through projects that were implemented in the participating companies. Savings correspond to a carbon reduction of 36,477 tonnes per year – the carbon footprint of 3,500 German citizens. In this way, the network work makes an important contribution to achieving our climate protection goals.
The following companies are part of the ChePap Rhein-Ruhr II Energy Efficiency Network, which is funded by the associations VCI NRW and WV Papier NRW:
GRILLO-WERKE AG, INOVYN Deutschland GmbH, Kabel Premium Pulp & Paper GmbH, Martinswerk, Mitsubishi HiTec Paper Europe GmbH, Moritz J. Weig GmbH & Co. KG, OQ Services GmbH, Papierfabrik Niederauer Mühle GmbH, SABIC Polyolefine GmbH, Topas Advanced Polymers GmbH, Versalis Deutschland, Vestolit GmbH, WEPA Industrieholding SE. Supporting engineering firm: WiRo Energie&Konnex Consulting GmbH
