ImproBed is an innovative and sustainable bedding solution developed specifically for today’s requirements in poultry farming. By selectively lowering the bedding pH value, microbial activity is inhibited and the formation of ammonia is significantly reduced. Alongside its DLG-certified ammonia reduction, ImproBed also has a germ-suppressing effect. This holistic approach protects the environment and contributes to the well-being of both people and animals.

ImproBed consists of a combination of straw and a pH-reducing additive, which together provide an effective solution for modern livestock housing requirements. The pellets produced from this ensure good bedding hygiene and have a positive effect on animal health.

ImproBed reduces ammonia formation directly in the bedding through targeted pH reduction. Emissions are therefore reduced in the barn before they can be released into the environment.

Scientific studies confirm effect

ImproBed’s ammonia-reducing effect was verified in accordance with the requirements of the TA Luft by the accredited test body LUFA Nord-West. The assessment was based on measurements taken on several farms in different seasons. The result: The measured emission factor in broiler production is 10.2 g NH₃ per animal place per year.

What does ImproBed actually do for me in daily barn operations?
ImproBed reduces ammonia formation in the barn. This improves the barn climate and relieves the respiratory system of both animals and people in day-to-day operation.
How is ImproBed different from standard bedding?
ImproBed combines bedding with a pH-reducing additive. This means it not only retains the properties of conventional bedding, but also actively reduces the formation of ammonia and germs.
Will ImproBed mean more work in the barn?
No. ImproBed is applied like conventional bedding and does not require any additional work steps or technical changes.
Can I use ImproBed in my existing barn?

By lowering the pH value of the bedding, the growth of bacteria and other microorganisms is inhibited. This contributes to improved overall barn hygiene.
How can I minimise ImproBed’s own odour?
Follow the application recommendations and climate control recommendations, and the odour will neutralise shortly.
Do I need to adjust climate control when using ImproBed?
If you adhere as closely as possible to the specifications on your barn chart, especially the specifications for relative humidity, the full effect of ImproBed is utilised. Ammonia emissions remain low and the bedding quality remains very good.
Does the additive in ImproBed have a verified carbon footprint?
Yes. The additive has an extremely low carbon footprint, which has been independently verified in accordance with the GHG Protocol and ISO 14067. Compared with other emission-reduction technologies, its carbon footprint is many times lower.
What do I do with the manure after a cycle if I have used ImproBed?
You can use the manure as usual in biogas plants or as farmyard manure. With ImproBed, the manure–bedding mixture contains more sulphur, which increases the fertiliser’s value.
