SULPHUR DIOXIDE AND DERIVATIVES

The Sulphur Dioxide and Derivatives Business Unit is responsible for the production and marketing of liquid sulphur dioxide, sodium bisulphite and sodium pyrosulphite at the sites in Duisburg and at the Industrial Park Höchst in Frankfurt.

LIQUID SULPHUR DIOXIDE

Sulphur dioxide is mainly used in the chemical industry, in the manufacture of pulp and paper, and as a preservative in the food and beverage industry.

SODIUM BISULPHITE LIQUID

Sodium bisulphite is used as a reducing agent in the chemical industry, e.g. for treating waste water or as a preservative for foods such as starches and sugar.

SODIUM PYROSULPHITE

The preservation of foods, such as fruit or seafood is only one of the varied areas of application in which sodium pyrosulphite is used.
