SULPHATES AND SULPHITES

The Sulphates and Sulphites Business Unit is responsible for the production and marketing of zinc sulphate at the Duisburg site, as well as that of dimethyl sulphate (DMS), dimethyl ether (DME), sodium bisulphate, sodium bisulphite and sodium pyrosulphite at the Industrial Park Höchst in Frankfurt. This product portfolio is derived from a consistent focus on the core activities of zinc and sulphur chemistry.

ZINC SULPHATE

Zinc sulphate is distinguished by its multi-faceted range of applications and is used, for example, in the pharmaceutical, feed and fertiliser industries.

DIMETHYL SULPHATE (DMS)

Dimethyl sulphate is an excellent methylating agent and is essential for many chemical applications and syntheses today.

GRILLO- (DIMETHYL ETHER)

Dimethyl ether (DME) is used in its highly pure form as a propellant, for instance in hairspray and spray paint.

SODIUM BISULPHATE

Sodium bisulphate is mostly used for pH value adjustment in water treatment. It is also utilised, for example, in animal feed and food production.

SODIUM BISULPHITE LIQUID

Sodium bisulphite is used as a reducing agent in the chemical industry, e.g. for treating waste water or as a preservative for foods such as starches and sugar.

SODIUM METABISULPHITE

The preservation of foods, such as fruit or seafood is only one of the varied areas of application in which sodium pyrosulphite is used.
